Fundraiser for the cats of Rocha da Relva

At a picturesque trail along the dramatic cliffs and coastline of Ponta Delgada, lives a colony of about 15 cats. A kind human helps make sure these cats are fed when possible - and hikers are encouraged to leave cat food in a donations bucket. But, without spaying/neutering, the cats are falling pregnant. A colony of 15 can grow exponentially without intervention. And these cats are left to suffer the elements, fights, disease.

Together with resources and help from Animais de Rua and Angel da Relva, we will trap and neuter the whole colony in March and aim to close the production cycle. But, we can't do it alone. We need your support!

They will be spayed & neutered at a clinic we have booked then we will return them to the location.

Cats of Rocha da Relva

An intervention is needed before this colony grows and more cats are left to suffer.

The cats are fed regularily and visitors are encouraged to donate food to the colony. Our goal is to raise €1,270 for the spay/neuter surgeries and deworming. If more than this is raised, it wil go to covering any extra vet care needed. Above that, the surplus will be donated to Animais de Rua. This organisation tirelessly feeds colonies and TNRs across the island, helps poor families care for their pets and, perhaps most importantly, petitions the government and communities for change in animal welfare regulations, practices and culture.

How does TNR save lives?

1 cat, 1 year = 12 kittens.

Those 12 kittens = 144 offspring.

By 3 years = 1,728 great-grand-kittens.
